Denise Van Outen’s plight to make recycling fashionable

deniseouten.jpgAs the face of ‘Recycle Now Week’, Denise Van Outen may have been chosen to draw attention to the issue of sustainable recycling but she has failed to win over paper recyclers. Industry body Paperchain has reportedly pulled its support of the campaign because its message is not “actively or effectively” promoting sustainable recycling.

In the meantime, Van Outen has appeared on today’s GMTV promoting a gown made from recycled cans, bottle tops, cardboard and plastic bags. For the skirt section, designer Gary Harvey used 42 pairs of Levi 501s. His previous creations include a paper dress made from 30 copies of the Financial Times newspaper which featured at London Fashion Week. Who knows? Perhaps we’ll all be following Van Outen’s style in years to come.
